Bill Stockham | PentecostalTheology.com“At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, “ASK FOR WHATEVER YOU WANT ME TO GIVE YOU.” (1 Kings 3:5) [What an amazing opportunity Solomon had, “WHATEVER YOU WANT FROM me, just ask” the Lord said to Solomon. We may imagine what we would ask for if given that same opportunity. So what motivated him to ask for wisdom? His father David was “a man after God’s own heart” over all a good example for Solomon. Maybe Solomon wanted to be a great King as his father was!] “Now, LORD my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. So GIVE YOUR SERVANT A DISCERNING HEART to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?” The LORD WAS PLEASED THAT SOLOMON HAD ASKED FOR THIS.” (1 Kings 3:7 – 10) [So, what will we ask for that will really please the Lord? For God to give us wise and understanding hearts so we will know better how to please Him”] “So God said to him, I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.” (1 Kings 3:11 – 12) [When our Abba Father answers our prayers, He does what only God can do.] “God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. SOLOMON’S WISDOM WAS GREATER THAN THE WISDOM OF ALL THE PEOPLE OF THE EAST, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt.” (1 Kings 3:29 – 30) [Do we have the same right as Solomon, to ask for wisdom?] “If any of you lacks wisdom, YOU SHOULD ASK GOD, WHO GIVES GENEROUSLY TO ALL WITHOUT FINDING FAULT, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, YOU MUST BELIEVE AND NOT DOUBT, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” (Jam. 1:5-6) [Because our Abba Father is the only teacher of this wisdom. God has all that is good, and gives all necessary good to everyone that asks passionately, believing!]
Be blessed as you praise The Lord, knowing that HE WILL GIVE GENEROUSLY TO ALL!
